This is an informative site that covers just about anything an avid gardener could
want.There is a very comprehensive section on water gardening that covers many
topics from bog gardening to pond installation and maintenance.

This site provides articles on dividing plants and pond building as well as a very
interesting and well illustrated section on new concepts
in water gardening. If you have ever wondered how to build a hanging
water garden, then this is your site! There is also illustrated instructions about
how to turn a regular bag of peat moss into a mini bog garden!

This Ontario site probably has the best tips for our climate and they
even have an “Ask the Expert” page where you can submit a question and have it answered by one of the Garden Centre staff. Although their winter care revolves mostly around leaving the fish in the pond and using an electric pond de-icer to keep the water clear, the general tips about fish feeding during dormancy and the treatment of pumps, filters and plants during the winter can be very helpful for the first time you winterize.

This site has an article about over-wintering your fish in the pond. This will only work if you have enough depth. Some of the advice would apply as well if you put your fish in a container that you keep in a cold garage or storage. The site also has plans for a biological filter.
